I chose this topic because almost every country song has a relationship of some sort with a conflict. Either family, friends, or love.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.comBlogger14125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-16872618569638548092009-01-12T19:45:00.000-08:002009-01-12T20:32:45.458-08:00So Small by Carrie UnderwoodAmerican pop country singer songwriter and American idol winner, Carrie Underwood’s, “So Small” is about not sweating the small stuff because everything gets better.
“It’s like a river that’s so wide it swallows you whole” this simile means that something as small as a river isn’t so important than if it was an ocean. “Sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing is just a grain of sand.” When you love someone it makes everything else seem “so small” and love is the main thing. “I know it’s hard on a rainy day you want to shut the world out and just be left alone but don’t run out on your faith.” When you have one of those days, when you just have the whole world on your shoulders, and you just want to cry. Remember that there are better things out there, and brighter days are ahead.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-3753204404178312842009-01-12T19:44:00.001-08:002009-01-12T19:44:48.975-08:00She's My Kind of Rain by Tim McGrawThe American country singer and actor, Tim McGraw’s song, “She’s My Kind of Rain” is about acknowledging women and what they’ve done for you.
To start off, the title of the song is a metaphor. There are many types of rain, hard rain, light rain and sleet, and this woman in particular is his kind of rain. An example of a simile is, “She sits quietly there like water in a jar.” It’s like this woman is trying to change him, but not in a pushy way. The whole stanza, “She's the sunset's shadow, she's like Rembrandt’s light, she's the history that's made at night, she's my lost companion, she's my dreamin' tree, together in this brief eternity,” is one whole extended metaphor. He’s stating that she’s his everything in his life.
Tim McGraw probably based “She’s My Kind of Rain” off of his wife, country singer, Faith Hill. Together, McGraw and Hill sing, “It’s Your Love” together.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-81947831698250710752009-01-12T18:52:00.000-08:002009-01-12T18:54:11.136-08:00Oh Love by Brad PaisleyThe Grammy award-winning country music singer, song writer, and guitarist, Brad Paisley’s “Oh Love” is about how love is strong and powerful.
“Oh Love” is made of almost all similes, the first example is, “Strong like a mother holds her child.” Love is important so you want to embrace it, and never let it go. Another example of a simile is, “Free as horses runnin’ wild.” Another simile is, “And real as a prayer on a lonely night.” Love is as free and real, as anyone wants it to be because it’s not something to be forced, or something to not enjoy. One more example of a simile is, “And sure as the ocean tide.” When you know you’re in love, it’s a good feeling and it can’t be replaced easily. The last example of a simile is, “Deep as the life from God’s own breath.” Love is something to love.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood wrote this song for listeners to feel how deep, and real love really is.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-47495107236045726942008-10-26T17:42:00.001-07:002008-10-30T08:06:50.596-07:00Backmasking and Reverse SpeechThe Eagles: "Hotel California" -Yeah Satan (gibberish) organized his own religion - Reverse speech

Mary Poppins soundtrack - Drinking all night long-reverse speech

Paul McCartney: 'Band On The Run' - "Marijuana, marijuana. In “The River”, he uses figurative language with vague uses of personification, metaphor, and simile.
In the first verse, Brooke says, “You know a dream is like a river.” This is a good example of a simile because a dream cannot be a living thing. An example of personification is the line, “Till the river runs dry.” In reality, a river does now really run, but as the listener, we understand the meaning of that line. Another example of personification is, “And let the waters slip away.” Water, also, cannot slip but as the listener we understand the significance of the word “slip”. There are also uses of metaphors, such as, “And a dreamer’s just a vessel.” Dreamers are being compared to vessels without the words, like or as. The following line says, “That must follow where it goes.” Now the listener, had a better understanding when Brooks says, “…a dreamer’s just a vessel.” They must follow their dreams. The next and last example of a metaphor is, “These waters are my sky.” Skies are endless, and so are waters, so it seems, to the person referring to “my”. They will, “never reach [their] destination.” The last reference to a simile is, “Like a bird upon the wind.” He clearly compares a bird to the wind, but differently than metaphors. Using figurative language, there could be any type of personification, metaphor or similes, for example.
Brooks in “The River” clearly uses figurative language. With the acceptable uses of personification, metaphor and simile.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-44487756230335389522008-10-14T09:37:00.001-07:002008-10-14T09:37:27.839-07:00Comment about my playlist here.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-72480437809450623382008-10-14T09:30:00.001-07:002008-10-14T09:30:32.806-07:00Metaphor in “I’m Already There”Almost all music has imagery, alliteration, or metaphor. In I’m Already There, by Lonestar, there are many metaphorical lines. “I’m Already There” is about a family where the man of the house is in the war. The daughter misses her dad, and she ask, “Daddy when you coming home.” This clearly represents that the daughter misses her dad.
To answer his daughter’s question he says, “I'm the sunshine in your hair,
I'm the shadow on the ground.” This is a metaphor because he really isn’t “sunshine in her hair”, or “the shadow on the ground.” He’s just trying to say that he’s there, even when he’s not. He also says, “I'm the whisper in the wind, I'm your imaginary friend.” Him, and the daughter both know he’s not really the “whisper in the wind”, but they like to think that because they miss each other, and he wants her to know that she’s in his thoughts, and he will always be there.
In the war today, many brothers, fathers, uncles and cousins may be fighting for the country. Everyone misses there loved one over seas. Most people know the problems that they go through over there, and I’m sure soldiers want their families to know that they’re there no matter what.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-60614642743709927312008-10-14T09:29:00.000-07:002008-10-14T09:30:07.412-07:00I'm Already There-LonestarHe called her on the road
From a lonely cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
And when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
And said "Daddy when you coming home"
He said the first thing that came to his mind

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Oh I'm already there

She got back on the phone
Said I really miss you darling
Don't worry about the kids they'll be alright
Wish I was in your arms
Lying right there beside you
But I know that I'll be in your dreams tonight
And I'll gently kiss your lips
Touch you with my fingertips
So turn out the light and close your eyes

I'm already there
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there

We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are

I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I'm already there
Oh I'm already therelizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-47412930712041443142008-09-17T06:41:00.000-07:002008-09-17T06:42:29.503-07:00Tears In Heaven VideoClick here to view video.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-9121634560907538452008-09-17T06:28:00.002-07:002008-09-17T06:37:29.801-07:00LinksClick here to view a biography of Eric Clapton.
Click here to view Eric Clapton's official site.
Click here to listen to Clapton's music.
Click here to view Eric Clapton's lyrics.
Click here to view more biography.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-11511025573691806712008-09-17T06:28:00.001-07:002008-09-17T06:28:58.599-07:00Tears In Heaven song analysisEric Clapton’s, Tears In Heaven, is an example of elegy. The song is about his son, Conor, which fell from a high-rise apartment to his death. Clapton uses the term elegy to better explain his feeling about his son.
Clapton says, “Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven.” It seems that he has not seen his son in so long; he might not even know his name. Then he says, “Would it be the same, if I saw you in heaven.” When Clapton last saw his son, he was six. That is a long time, and Clapton did not really get to know his son because he was so young. The verse, “Beyond the doors, there’s peace I’m sure, and I know there’ll be no more tears in heaven.” he knows that his son should be happy in heaven because there’s peace, and he will no longer be sad about anything anymore. Lastly, Clapton says, “I must be strong and carry on.” its definitely not easy getting over the death of a son, and/or loved one, but it cant take over your life, and you have to move on.
No one takes death lightly. This song made an impact on me, and probably the world because it was sad. No one wants to lose someone they love.lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534676755921515826noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5852103215605839352.post-44394710912017008962008-09-16T16:52:00.000-07:002008-09-16T17:05:28.525-07:00Ten Interesting Facts-It was difficult for a 16 year old to raise a newborn child in the 40's.
